What we collect
When you create an account on MaccPicks, we collect your email address and display name through our authentication provider (Clerk). If you sign in with Google, we receive your name and email from your Google profile.
When you vote, we record which venues you voted for and when. We also store which venues you have marked as visited.
We automatically collect basic usage data such as pages viewed, device type, and browser. We do not use tracking cookies for advertising.
How we use your data
Your votes are used to calculate venue rankings. Votes are aggregated and no individual voting record is made public.
Your email address is used solely for account management and, if you opt in, occasional updates about the service. We will never sell your email to third parties.
Usage data helps us understand how people use the site so we can improve it.
Data storage and security
Your data is stored securely using Convex (our database provider) and Clerk (our authentication provider). Both services use encryption in transit and at rest.
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your personal data will be removed. Anonymised vote data may be retained to preserve ranking integrity.
Cookies
We use essential cookies required for authentication and session management. These are strictly necessary for the site to function.
We do not use advertising or third-party tracking cookies.
Third-party services
We use the following third-party services that may process your data:
Clerk (authentication), Convex (database), Vercel (hosting). Each of these services has its own privacy policy and processes data in accordance with their terms.
Your rights
You can request a copy of your data, ask us to correct inaccurate information, or request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us at the email below.
If you are in the UK or EU, you have additional rights under GDPR including the right to data portability and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify users through the site. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
